history
The Last Reign was originally formed in May of 2015 by Brian Platter, the founder and primary songwriter of the band. Setting out to bring back the glory days of the 90s Gothenburg melodic death metal sound. Within a year, TLR hit the studio to record their debut full length, Expulsion from Paradise, which was released in September of 2016 followed by a nearly two week tour in April of 2017.
Shortly after the tour, due to a conflict of interests, The Last Reign was left with the sole founding member. With a mountain of material already written for a follow-up album, Brian pushed forward and rebuilt the band, culminating in June of 2019 with the first live appearance of The Last Reign in two years. A version of this lineup ultimately aided in the recording and release of their sophomore album, Evolution, which was released in September 2020 accompanied by a 2xLP color vinyl in gatefold packaging.
From there, despite the pandemic and multiple lineup changes, The Last Reign continued to record and release three EPs, six music videos and multiple regional shows.
In 2024, we are currently writing our third full length entitled Enter the New Realm, which will hopefully have a release in 2024 along with furthering our outreach to new cities.
